Jaime D. Padrón Elementary School, Austin ISD

This renovation converted an existing warehouse into a 57 classroom school for AISD. It is currently Austin’s largest elementary school and has achieved the City of Austin 4-Star Green Building rating and LEED Gold certification.

The space includes a gym, cafeteria, library, classrooms and administration functions. The classrooms features a multi-functional commons space for each pod section. There is a 20,000 SF shaded outdoor play area to protect from the Texas heat. The exterior was improved with a more colorful and welcoming appearance.  It was also revised to accommodate buses, vehicles and parking, along with canopies at all entries and drop-offs for improved wayfinding.
