Telios Corporation relocated its office space from Sugarland, TX to City Centre near the Memorial Area in Houston. An upgrade in office size as well as proximity to downtown and the design community were the driving factors for the relocation. Telios enlisted Method Architecture after working closely with Method on its new Houston office and wanted the team to design the interior of its new space.

The new interior build-out is 5,400 square feet in Town Center Two and is designed as a completely open office floor plan. As various trends for office spaces emerge, Method embraced the concept of ‘making an office feel like home’ by incorporating soft textures and comfortable furniture throughout. The desired result was to cultivate an open space for teachable moments while simultaneously allowing employees to feel welcomed and at home in the workplace.

As guests make their way into the office, their eyes are immediately drawn past the storefront to the floor to ceiling windows showcasing the beautiful landscape behind the building. The reception area is the start of the calming aroma that is carried throughout the office with cooler tones such as light blues and an engineered stone countertop with dark, but cool-toned greys. Next, guests encounter the open office space, which features desks and conference rooms adorned with lively geometric wallcoverings.

Rather than installing a hard, smooth ceiling, eye-catching baffles were added above the office space, creating a visually appealing and airy interior. Due to the open floor plan, acoustics were an important factor in the design process. Softer textures, including carpet, geometric felt panels, and other materials were installed to help tune in the reflective sound and mitigate noise as much as possible.

Although there are no private offices, small phone booths and conference rooms are strategically placed throughout the space for private moments and meetings. The breakroom, or multipurpose room, was another important design element, aimed at keeping the area as open as possible. This room includes a 20ft x 9ft all glass telescoping wall with 1 ¾” frame that can combine the two spaces into one large area for training sessions and meetings.
