Texas bring their spaces—and their stories—to life. But we know that the journey to opening a craft brewery doesn’t begin with floor plans or tap lists. It begins with a vision, a challenge, and a great deal of determination.
That’s why we’re proud to continue our partnership with the Texas Craft Brewers Guild through the annual Brewery in Planning grant program—now entering its fifth year. Together, we’re helping to remove early barriers for entrepreneurs looking to break into the craft beer industry by providing five aspiring brewery owners each year with a free one-year membership to the Guild (a $300 value).
More than just a membership, the grant is a gateway to community, education, and opportunity.
Empowering Breweries from the Ground Uptecture
Starting a brewery is a complex, capital-intensive venture—especially for first-time business owners or those coming from underrepresented backgrounds. From permitting and design to equipment sourcing and marketing, navigating those early stages requires more than just passion. It requires access to resources, mentorship, and industry connections.
That’s where the Texas Craft Brewers Guild comes in. Grant recipients receive:
- Exposure to vendors, suppliers, and professionals—like Method Architecture—who can help them move from concept to construction
- Access to exclusive educational content like the 30-page Brewery in Planning Guide and industry expert webinars
- Invitations to regional meetups and statewide conferences like the Texas Brewery Roundup
- Peer connections with over 60 other in-planning breweries and nearly 250 operating brewery members
“Every great brewery starts with a bold idea and the right support,” said Katherine Rorie, Principal at Method Architecture. “This grant isn’t just financial aid—it’s a gateway into a vibrant, collaborative community that values authenticity, creativity, and local impact. We’re honored to play a role in helping the next generation of Texas brewers thrive.”
Real Impact: Stories from Past Grant Recipients
In 2023, Deidre and Will Amaya of Bay Area Brewing Company in Rockport, Texas, received a Brewery in Planning grant—and used it to launch their dream.
“The Brewery in Planning Grant is not just a monetary award. To us, it was a lot more,” said Deidre. “We used the recognition as an opportunity to build our brand and grow our community following as we sought crowdfunding and being taken seriously in a lucrative coastal real estate market.”
Since the program’s inception in 2021, 22 grants have been awarded to brewery startups across the state—from rural towns to urban neighborhoods. Applicants have come from every corner of Texas, including Prosper, Tyler, College Station, Missouri City, and Allen—proof that the craft beer movement is truly a statewide phenomenon.
What’s Brewing in 2025
This year, five more Brewery in Planning grants will be awarded to a new class of entrepreneurs chasing their dreams. Method Architecture is excited to continue championing this effort and fostering deeper relationships within the craft brewing industry.
The 2025 grant recipients will be announced soon, and we can’t wait to meet them—and help them build spaces that bring people together.
A Long-Term Commitment to Texas Craft Beer
Method Architecture’s relationship with the Texas Craft Brewers Guild is more than a sponsorship. It’s a shared belief that great spaces can create great community experiences—and that independent breweries serve as vital gathering places across the Lone Star State.
As a longtime member of the Guild and design partner for dozens of Texas breweries, we’re proud to support the people who pour so much heart into every pint.
Cheers to the future of craft beer in Texas—and the bold dreamers behind it.
