A Texas Craft Beer Guide to Thanksgiving

When it comes to enjoying a delicious Thanksgiving feast nothing goes better than a nice, cold, craft beer to wash it down! Whether it is turkey and mashed potatoes or pecan pie, we’ve put together a list of some of our favorite Texas craft beers to pair with this year’s Thanksgiving feast! Cheers!

The Main Dish

Oven-Roasted Turkey
After hours of prepping, stuffing, basting, baking and stressing out over this bird, you’re gonna need a cold beer. Even if you didn’t cook it, raise a Bakfish Treble Maker to the chef!

Smoked Turkey
A true, Texas tradition deserves a true, Texas beer. Pile up your plate and choose get a Spindletap Honey Hole Honey ale.

Smoked Ham
Not a turkey fam? Or is this backup in case “you know who” is in charge of making the turkey this year? Either way, True Anomaly’s Redstone Vienna Lager is the perfect sidekick!

Plant-based Piece de resistance
Shout out to all our veggie mains out there. From the traditional tofurky to the impossible burger (when is the impossible turkey going to make its debut?!), this pairing is for you. No tofurky meal is complete without Baileson Brewing’s Beauhaus Hefeweizen.

Sides are the Real Show

It’s common knowledge that the side to main dish plate ratio is about 80/10. So whether you’re going for tallest peak on Mount Mashed Tater or creating a castle of cornbread (extra points for the gravy moat), here are our favorite brews to get you through dinner with your relatives.

No Naps Until Dessert

Second plates don’t happen until AFTER dessert. It’s a Thanksgiving tenet.

Pumpkin Pie
To some Thanksgiving purists, no other dessert exists other than a slice of pumpkin pie with whipped cream and a cup of coffee to fight the tryptophan torpidity. But, what could be better than pumpkin, coffee, and beer all in one? For this, we recommend the Buffalo Bayou Brewing Co. Pumpkin Spice Latte. It is everything but basic.

Pecan Pie
You know that one cousin who always pronounces “pecan” wrong? This pairing IS NOT for them. Whether you like your pecans in a pie or in your beer, Bear King Brewing’s Bird’s Word Pecan Porter is the perfect way to top off a Thanksgiving meal.

Pumpkin Cheesecake Cream Ale
This beer deserves its own dessert category. Ingenious Brewing Co’s Pumpkin Cheesecake Cream Ale is conditioned on pumpkin, spices, cheesecake and graham crackers. Yeah, I’ll have 2. Oh, and try to avoid eye contact with whoever brought the pies… we mean no disrespect.
