Project Overview
Method Architecture worked with Michael Hsu Office of Architecture to bring their design vision to life for this adaptive reuse project, transforming five former industrial buildings into a lively, mixed-use development. M-K-T, located in the Heights neighborhood of Houston, has 100,000 square feet of creative Office space and 150,000 square feet of chef-driven restaurants, first-to-market retailers, and studio fitness concepts. M-K-T connects to the Heights Hike and Bike Trail allowing for an indoor-outdoor connection in the center of an urban environment, including numerous bike racks throughout the design to allow easy access to the property directly from the trail, promoting an active lifestyle and catering to the walkability atmosphere of the entire neighborhood. The client envisioned a diverse walkable campus that celebrated the original industrial history of the site while fostering a modern look that allows the community to gather in throughout the day. We created what will be a primary destination of eating, shopping, and working for Houston locals and visitors in the historic Houston Heights. With a variety of different tenants offering diverse spaces and multiple outdoor zones connecting the five buildings, this design creates a sense of community that truly emulates the client’s sought after vision.
